Hello, final gals and guys! Welcome to my little cozy corner of the web, Booked and Bewitched, where we chat about all things horror, gothic, and mystery related!
This week we are talking about one of my faves, hidden object horror games. To be completely honest anything with the word puzzle, hidden object, or HOG in it gets my attention, but that’s for another day.
What is a hidden object horror game? It’s a fun little subgenre that puts us in “ordinary” places and then hits us with something you know should be dangerous, yet it doesn’t feel that way. And we get to play ISpy at the same time. In a nutshell, it lets you dive into the dark side of horror, without the typical scare tactics.
With that being said, hidden object horror games are very subjective. What’s cozy to me, may be terrifying to you or vice versus. With that being said, feel free to drop your favorite cozies in the comments section. I’m always on the lookout for a new cozy to fill my days.

Epic Hidden Object Horror Videogames
1. Meh Hidden Object Horror Game
You may be asking why this hidden object horror game is number one on my list. Because it was terrible and I don’t want you to fall for it and waste your money on this. There I said it, I try and find something good with everything I talk about, but this one was a fail. Now I’m not a hidden object horror game expert, so maybe it is just me, but this was awful. I literally got stuck on the first search, had to look up what to do, made it to the third search, and died. And after repeating this process more times than I care to admit, I deleted the game and here we are.
What is “Disease -Hidden Object-”? :
This is a horror adventure game where the player go back and forth in between the real world and the hallucination world. The purpose of this game is to search items and collect scattered documents while solving mysteries and finding out the truth of the abolished hospital.
2. Must-Have interactive gothic horror game
I really enjoyed this game. We got off to a bit of a rocky start, but once I figured out that my controller was the issue, it went smashingly afterward. If you love interactive gothic horror novel play, you’ll love this one. You play as a psychic looking for her father in an abandoned train-building town/ mansion. I want to say this one took me 8ish hours to play all the way through but don’t quote me on that as it’s been a while since I played this one. For the price and quality, Scarlett Child Mysteries is a great horror hidden object game.
As the protagonist tries to locate her missing father, a clue leads her to the train station next to Baronet Steameyer’s mansion and factory.
3. Spooky horror puzzle game on Switch
I absolutely love this style of hidden object horror games. This game is pretty old, but the art style makes my heart happy. You are hunting for a missing girl in a small Vermont town full of horror and mystery. My son loves to snuggle with me and help me find hidden objects so these are must-plays in my book. The best part is that there’s more to this switch hidden object game series, which we will be talking about.
Imagine waking up after a powerful storm as the sun goes down. You find yourself just outside a small town on the side of the road. A shiver runs down your spine as your body remembers the recent dramatic events that your mind cannot or will not recall…
4. One of the best-hidden object game series
Dead foster parent, creepy island, Addams Family style house, puzzles, hidden objects, and demons. That’s what you get with this one, and I’m all for it. I love the art style of these horror hidden object games and what better way is there to spend an evening or a rainy weekend?
The story of Dawn Harlock, an unusual red-eyed woman, who must return to her family estate on Iowa Island to investigate the mysterious death of her mentor, Professor Ashmore. It’s not long before Dawn discovers traces of horrifying experiments and has to come face to face with an ancient evil from another world.
5. Great hidden object puzzle horror game
So I personally really love the demon hunter game because it’s more hidden object focused with minimal puzzle gameplay. There are a ton of these, and I haven’t gotten to play them all yet. Currently, there are five in the switch store. Either way, you get to be demon hunters, track down the demon that killed our foster family, and save the world. Sounds like a good weekend to me.
“Twenty years of peace came to an abrupt end, when Dawn Harlock, the last member of the mysterious order of demon hunters, has to, once again, face Archdemon Ragnar and save the world from evil.
6. Hair-raising horror hidden object games
Do private detectives ever really take a holiday? Well not in this one, we play as a female protagonist who rolls up to her snowy holiday hotel only to find a dead body at the gates. This one is full of fun puzzles to solve, and hidden object challenges and we get to put all that true crime knowledge we have in our brains to good use.
When a grim murder interrupts a private detective’s vacation at the very gate to the hotel at which she was going to stay, she puts her plans for R&R on hold and sets out to do what she does best: solve violent crimes. All she has to go on is a single clue: a mysterious paper lily attached to the victim’s frozen body. Could it be the killer’s calling card?
7. Favorite horror hidden object switch game
If you love Slavic fairytales or myths you have to play Eventide. It’s super cute, even though you’re up against a Mothman-style monster in the game and an evil Slavic wizard thing. I think this one took me close to 13 hours to play all the way through. The only grumble I would have is that you had to keep checking previously solved puzzles because they were reused in a new way. It got to be a little tiresome when you’ve been looking for the next step for half an hour only to figure out it’s the thing you already solved once, but now it’s something new. All in all though, this a wonderful horror hidden object game, and it’s really nice to see my ancestral lineage getting a little nod in the gaming world.
Slavic Fable is an exciting adventure game inspired by Slavic mythology. Set in a contemporary heritage park where mythical Slavic creatures co-exist with humans, the adventure begins when the protagonist, a famous botanist, receives an alarming invitation from her grandmother.
8. Scary mystery horror hidden object game
So if you loved the Maple Creek game you have to play the Mists of Ravenwood. We still play as the same female protagonist, just a couple of years later as we hunt down the demonic preacher who started it all. I really enjoy these, because they fulfill my need for a switch horror game, while not being too scary for my little ones to enjoy with me. And the best part, there is still one more available game in this series on the Switch store. SCORE.
A year has passed since the events of Maple Creek. But for the past few months, our detective has been hot on the trail of the demonic preacher she fought one year ago. Yet he has managed to always stay one step ahead.
9. Ghostly classic hidden object games
Okay before we go any further. Paranormal Hotel gives you get 2000s PC game graphics, don’t say I didn’t warn you. I haven’t finished this one yet, I’m struggling to push through. For ten bucks I’m not sure you’re getting your money’s worth, but like I said, I’ve only just started this one, so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. If you like cults, ghosts, and ancient history this is the hidden object adventure puzzle game for you.

10. Relaxing horror hidden object game
So I’m not gonna lie, this isn’t the greatest hidden object game I’ve ever played. But the graphics weren’t too bad, and it had decent hidden object puzzles. The storyline was a little shaky, but I’ve definitely come across way worse it’s a much more expensive and bigger budget game. This took me around 4 hours to play though, so not a super long one, but for the price, it’s a great afternoon relaxing horror hidden object game for sure.

11. Eerie switch horror hidden object games online
So I know that this one won’t be a huge fan fave, it is on the older side and there is no dialogue, but the atmosphere gives off great creepy haunted house vibes. The music can get a tiny amount annoying, but I was also playing at full volume. We get to be journalists trying to get justice for abused slaves. The graphics look good, and the puzzles and hidden objects quest were tricky but not super tough. It’s a decent-length game, but I’d wait for it to go on sale if I had to play again.

13. Spooky Hidden Object games for Nintendo Switch
Okay, if Knives Out is your kinda movie, Path Of Sin: Greed needs to be on your wishlist. It’s got 30s-style clothing, a female protagonist, and a rich albeit strange family in a mansion on an isolated island with a dead security guard. This one just squeezes by into my horror hidden object game list, because its atmosphere is definitely creepy, and I’ve no doubt there are ghosts in the basement.
A rookie inspector on her first assignment and her experienced copartner arrive at the scene – a luxurious island in the middle of the ocean owned by a young millionaire, who wants the matter concluded as quietly as possible. The question in this case appears simple enough: was a security guard’s death a suicidal plunge, or maybe an unfortunate fall?
14. Creepy hidden switch games
So we get to be paranormally blessed doctor. The monsters in this one are pretty awesome, and it starts out super stressful as we have to resuscitate someone immediately. NO PRESSURE. The storyline is a little silly, but it’s a fun play-through. And it’s got a map, so you have to at least look at it. It took me about 8 hours to get all the way through, so for the price, you don’t have much to lose.
In a small tourist town a young girl, the daughter of the town’s mayor, falls in coma due to an accident. The impotence of the local physicians forces Mrs. Mayor to seek the aid of a psychiatrist, who is rumoured to possess a unique ability to traverse people’s dreams – a Dreamwalker.
15. Best hidden object game switch
Who doesn’t love a hidden object horror game that starts out with a little human sacrificing? We get blood moons, ghosts, banshees, and Scottish moors all in one sitting. The background music is a lovely sort of relaxing Irish/Scottish strings style. I also loved the Sleepy Hollow kinda vibes the village gives off!
